Network Architecture using network address translation mechanism for network with unidirectional links


This paper proposes an architecture suitable for the communication with asymmetric traffic pattern. Unidirectional links such as a satellite broadcast do not work properly in the current routing architecture of the Internet. This paper propose integrated network architecture with a satellite link and a terrestrial link. In this architecture, an receiving sides can select which link should be used for incoming traffic. The source address translation mechanism is proposed and implemented for this route selection. Nowadays, incoming traffic to users such as WWW browsing is more volume than outgoing one. So, this architecture is sutable for that environment.
