Julie & Julia
I just saw Julie & Julia as one of my recovering project to the world. Some of you may know Julia Child, but she is the person who really changed the cooking style of Americans through her recipe books. She published French recipe books for servantless American housewives.
Julie is a normal working woman just turning 30 who lives with a real good husband in N.Y., frustrated in her life struggling to know what she can do for her life. She loved cooking and writing, and her husband suggested her to start a blog about cooking all 524 recipes from Julia Child's book in 365 days. That was a bold idea, but she took it. She started a blog called The Julie/Julia Project, and cooked following Julia's recipes everyday. There are bright days and sad days, but she kept cooking and writing. She was talking with Julia Child in her imagination, and really felt like she was connected to her.
Through writing the blogs, she got fans of her blogs and gradually became famous. Even Amanda Hesser from the New York times visited her house to write about her in the newspaper (wow!) Cooking was interesting, but what was more was the relationships of husbands and wives and friends. They were caring, trusting, and loving. I just wish one day I could have a relationship like that, even though I do admit that I am not that perfect at all.
I really love Nora Ephron's movies, and I just felt happy I watched this movie. Thank you Nora.
