with newbie, you can do
- IP version 6 message exchange / name service(with Kame -- no other platform checked)
- Faith-mode (map IPv4 address into IPv6 address)
- Offline-mode (behavior during off-line -- for nomads)
- IP version 4 message exchange ... of course :)
- Dynamic UPDATE with RFC2136
- Prototype of authorized update(similar to TSIG, but no compatibilty)
- Primary master of zone transfer
- Forwarder (still buggy)
- Control of active name server.
with newbie, you can NOT do
- Slave of zone transfer(Secondary)
- Several resource types are unsupported yet.
- Incremental zone transfer (RFC1995)
- NOTIFY (RFC1996)

- FreeBSD
- 2.2.2 with Hydrangea(newest version is known as Kame)
- 2.2.5-PAO, 2.2.5-PAO with Hydrangea(newest version is known as Kame)
- 2.2.6-RELEASE with Kame
- 3.0-current(compile only: tested 29Apr1998)

- ReaHat 4.2 with kernel 2.0.27
